LAWS 701 - Advanced Family Law|

This course takes students beyond the issues covered in the basic Family Law course and offers an opportunity for in-depth study of contemporary issues in Family Law. The class will explore the legal, ethical, social and psychological aspects of the family. Topics covered may include parental rights and responsibilities in reproductive technology cases, medical decision-making, adoption, termination of parental rights, gender and sexuality, and special laws unique to Native Americans.

Prerequisites: Family Law must be taken prior to or at the same time as this course.

Note: A limited number of students may elect to fulfill the graduation writing requirement with the professor's prior permission by taking the course for 3 credit-hours and completing a paper of not less than 30 pages in length. Students who elect the 2 credit-hour option must either take the final examination or complete a paper of not less than 20 pages in length, which will not fulfill the graduation writing requirement.
